Lyrics By Louisa Stead
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
This song means a lot to me, as I have had the priviledge of learning to trust Jesus with my life. I trusted my life to Him when I was small, and I continue to trust it to Him as I continue to grow in faith. The refrain strikes a note close to home. The whole song is all about how much Louisa (or the singer) trusts Jesus, but the end of the refrain is says "Oh, for grace to trust Him more!" I find that to be somewhat convicting. No matter how much I may trust Him, I can always trust Him with another aspect of my life, another worry, or another care. He should be the One in Whom I trust the very most.
I know that I can and should trust god more in so many aspects of my life, and that is what I am striving to do.
"In You our fathers put their trust; they trusted and You delivered them." - Psalm 22:4-5
I need to remember that, no matter how hard it is, no matter how dim the path, no matter what I can (and cannot) see in front of me, God is in complete control.
