Bee Line To a Flower

I love flowers.  They are one of God's beautiful creations.  There are so many different types!  So many different colors, shapes, sizes.  There are giant Sunflowers that can grow to be 20 feet tall.  There are tiny flowers that have blossoms no wider than half an inch.  Flowers have so many colors too! Yellow, blue, pink, purple, orange, green, red, white, even black.  Some have thorns, like roses, and some have smooth vines, like morning glories.  There are so many beautiful flowers!

I've loved flowers ever since I can remember.  When I was at JHBC these past two weeks there were a lot of flowers from the Mana project.  They were sitting in buckets; there were buckets and buckets of them!  They were so pretty!  One of the types of bouquets made me laugh, because there were yellow, green, and blue flowers.  There were blue daisies, and it was obvious that they were dyed.  They made me laugh.

When we were talking about the flowers on the table one day, we started talking about what our favorite flowers were (okay okay, I asked the two guys at the table what their favorite flowers were, and that brought a laugh) but when I started thinking about what my favorite flower was I had a hard time choosing one.  I've been asked that question before and I've always just said I don't have a favorite.  I don't think I ever will have a favorite flower.  It's probably because I have so many memories of different types.

One of my memories is of a certain special flower.  The flower is called "Love In a Mist".  I don't know why I have such good memories of them.  Maybe it's because they always grew back by themselves each year, or maybe it's because there were so many of them that no matter how many I picked there always seemed to be more.  I remember that there were hardly any blue ones usually, and how one year there were a ton and I was so excited!  When we moved I brought some dried seed pods so I could plant them and grow some here.  They got lost and I never ended up planting any.

Brinner and a Show

Tonight I had breakfast for dinner.  Brinner.  Pancakes, fruit salad, sausages (although I didn't actually eat any of them cause they were all gone by the time it was my turn in line), croissants, and scrambled eggs.  Jello (aka Danilo) didn't get any sausages either. We were both somewhat sad about it, and had a hilarious conversation about it, so I felt better about it.  Aimee, Leslie, Sam, and Kaitlyn had to make dinner as their PCMA, so I was able to go with them and I had fun! I cracked eggs with Kaitlyn and learned the most amazing way to crack eggs ever! You hit one egg against the other and one cracks.  It's so much tidier than hitting it on the counter.

I can only really remember eating Brinner twice before in my life.  I think I was 8 the first time I had it, and it was waffles with blueberries and whipped cream.  The second time that I can remember was last Sunday when De-Lish made chocolate chip pancakes for dinner.  Only the chocolate chips weren't actually chocolate chips, they were chopped up chocolate hugs.  So really, we had hug pancakes. They were very yummy and De-Lish was so sweet to make them for us.

Have you ever sat and watched a fire burn? You know how once you get started watching you have a VERY hard time stopping?  It's like you can't tear your eyes away from it because it's just so intriguing and amazing.  Well, I've discovered something very interesting. Watching someone that knows what they're doing, and I mean REALLY knows what they're doing, play an instrument is just like watching a fire.  While I was watching Dangerman play his hammer dulcimer last night that is how I felt.  He played a song that he finished writing yesterday, and while he was playing a different song he started making a new one up.  It was so cool!  I think I could have sat and watched for hours.  (I wish that watching a video had the same effect, but then I suppose I would never get anything productive done, like writing this blog, because you know how productive this is. *laughs*)

Oh yeah, and I thought of Tater-Tat while I was in Dollar Tree cause I saw a whole pack of orange pencils.  They were pretty sweet.

Well, now I should go do something else productive, like playing a game. ;-)

Biscuits and Gravy

I am brought to the topic of food.  Why? Reason #1: Because I would not be alive without food. Reason #2: Because my stomach just started growling. Reason #3: Because food at JHBC is so much more interesting than at home!
I have not had the same thing twice in the last 11 days.  This is something new for me.  It’s exactly opposite of the week that we spent at a hotel in Anaheim.  That time we had the same exact thing for breakfast every single day: cereal, toast, and Danishes.  Not bad, but not super great.
JHBC has very good food.  I have enjoyed every single bite! (Except for that time when the Wishbone Zesty Italian salad dressing wasn’t shaken up, so my salad was covered in the nasty oil that sits on top.  I mean, it’s amazing when it’s mixed up and so on, but when that’s it?!?! I don’t THINK so. No, I know so. The fact that the oil got on my fruit too didn’t make it any better.)  I have had Tomato Bisque soup for the first time ever in my entire life.  It was better than I expected.  I had biscuits and gravy for breakfast for the first time too.  It was really good!
This brings me to the subject of interesting (and non-interesting) foods.  I can’t say that I’ve had many interesting foods.  I will list some.  Interesting: Pickled pig’s feet.  Probably the strangest, most yicky thing I have ever tasted.  Normal: PB&J on white bread.  Interesting: An oyster. (I did not know I was going to have to detach the muscle.)  Normal: Steamed broccoli. (I enjoy steamed broccoli a lot though, so it works.) Interesting: Moose. (I’ve only had it once and it’s not interesting to many people, but for me… Interesting.) Normal: Potatoes. (I’ve eaten them so many times in many different ways, and I like them, but sometimes they are boring. I HAVE eaten them without anything but salt on them when they’re cold.)
Well, as I said food is important.  It’s not the most important thing to maintain life though.  Water wins. ;-)
I hope that anyone who reads this remembers the most interesting thing you have ever eaten… and smiles. (Unless of course it was a bad experience.)  Care to share?

Real To Reel

This song inspired the title of my blog...

"Real To Reel" - Above The Golden State

My life has scripted lines like a movie
And you're listening now
My director's watchful eye is recording
Every move and sound

The camera's on, three, two, one, everyday
Because it won't be long 'til it's done
And tomorrow will bring the awesome rising sun
Like a preview of what's to come

Watch me go on the slide
Scene by scene, my whole life
I'm showing you my heart
From real to reel

Run the tape through my mind
Fit to screen, cut to size
I'm playing you my 'Best of' how I feel
From real to reel

I'll roll through Hollywood with a chariot
And gold rimmed shades
I can't imagine the look on Oscar's face
When he sees my star on the walk of fame

Oh, I believe when I leave
I'll play a part in this eternity's documentary
Tomorrow will bring the awesome rising sun
Like a preview of what's to come

Watch me go on the slide
Scene by scene of my whole life
I'm showing you my heart
From real to reel

Run the tape through my mind
Fit to screen, cut to size
I'm playing you my 'Best of' how I feel

Watch me go on that slide
Behind the scenes of my true life
I'm showing you my heart
From real to reel

Run the tape through my mind
Fit to screen, cut to size
i'm playing you my 'Best of' how I feel
From real to reel

My life has scripted lines
Like a movie and you're listening now
