Why is it... Of The Day

Why is it... that I often spend a whole day being busy, but when I sit down at the end of the day, I feel like I haven't gotten anything done? Am I doing something wrong? Do I feel like I need to be doing way more than I need to?  What is the deal?

Why is it... that I have so little patience?  It's hard knowing that "patience is a virtue" and one of the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, PATIENCE, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), and seeing that I don't have it means I need to grow more.  I know I need to grow in many areas, but this one area I need so much growth in! *sighs* Sheesh...

Why is it... that I can come up with such amazing resolutions, then not do a very good job keeping them? I mean, seriously... it's so lame!  Resolutions I'm having a hard time keeping right now is one pertaining to speech, one pertaining to sugar, and one partaining to sleep.  That's all I'm going to say about them cause they're getting me down right now, "and I wanna be up, up UP!" (Unsinkable Molly Brown)

Why is it... that this post is seeming so negative? I mean really... God is good! He is taking care of me, and He will provide for me, His child.  He will give me patience, and He will allow me to get everything done in a day that is His will, and He will give me the perseverance to keep any resolution I'm supposed to keep.

And that, my friends, is all. God is good. :-)

Redbud Trees

There are these beautiful trees, and they are called Redbud's, or at least that's what we call them, but I think that's what they're called.  We pass them all the time in the spring when we drive out our road, but I never saw one on our property actually.  A couple years ago I saw one near Tadpole Creek!  That was exciting, but the problem was that they weren't in bloom.  My dad pointed out that the Redbud's along the road were in bloom as we were driving to church.  I decided to go on an adventue and see if my little find was blooming or not.  It actually reminded me of part of one of the Anne of Green Gables books...

"'Ah, here it is,' he said with satisfaction.
'An apple tree -- and away back here!' exclaimed Anne delightedly.
'Yes, a veritable apple-bearing apple tree, too, here in the very midst of pines and beeches, a mile away from any orchard. I was here one day last spring and found it, all white with blossom. So I resolved I'd come again in the fall and see if it had been apples. See, it's loaded. They look good, too -- tawny as russets but with a dusky red cheek. Most wild seedlings are green and uninviting.'
'I suppose it sprang years ago from some chance-sown seed,' said Anne dreamily.' And how it has grown and flourished and held its own here all alone among aliens, the brave determined thing!'
'Here's a fallen tree with a cushion of moss. Sit down, Anne -- it will serve for a woodland throne. I'll climb for some apples. They all grow high -- the tree had to reach up to the sunlight.'
The apples proved to be delicious. Under the tawny skin was a white, white flesh, faintly veined with red; and, besides their own proper apple taste, they had a certain wild, delightful tang no orchard-grown apple ever possessed."

I always liked that part of the book, and it just reminded me of my going to find the tree... anyways, here are some pictures I took of the Rebdud tree.

"Checks" Of The Day

1 - Buy random jewelry items that I've been needing. (ring mandrel that I got a rain check for almost a year ago, silverware for spoon handle rings, beads, and projects for mom.) CHECK!

2 - Wash that huge pile of laundry that was building up... CHECK!

3 - Take pictures of beautiful day God has given us after so much rain. CHECK!

4 - Make a couple necklaces.  CHECK!

5 - Pick up the 10 CD's I had on hold at the library. CHECK!

6 - Not get eaten by the boar while trying to take pictures of the night sky. CHECK!

7 - Write a blog post or two about this beautiful day. CHECK! *winks*

I Sing The Mighty Power Of God

We sang this song on Sunday, and I just had to share it with ya'll.  I also took some pictures just to show some of the things God created that sing His mighty power to me.

I Sing the Mighty Power of God
By Isaac Watts

I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
[or I sing th’almighty power of God…]
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

(A beautiful blossom)

(Water flowing over the rocks)

(Amazing color in the Redbud trees)

(These tiny blue flowers that have such minute details)

(These two pictures do not do the night sky nearly enough justice.)

A Give Away

This is not a give away that I am doing, but I wanted to share it with whoever wants to know!

I found this blog a while ago and was a "favoriter" of her.  (If you don't understand then read about it here)I since started blogging and decided to actually "follow" her officially.  I decided to share the link to her give away as a way on entering said give away.  All you have to do to enter is write a comment about your favorite smell and why it's your favorite smell and you're entered in the random drawing! There are some lovely prizes and I'm glad I'm entered in it. :)

Just thought I'd share!

(life is too short not to) Wear Red Shoes GIVEAWAY!

I'm also probably going to try to do a giveaway on my jewelry blog. So keep your eyes peeled! (Isn't that an awkward saying?)

Wonder of Wonders...

"(4)But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, (5) even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" Ephesians 2:4-6 NASB

What an awesome God we serve.  I started writting a post about this topic weeks ago, but never finished it.  Today's sermon inspired me to actually write about what I had been thinking.  The passage was Eph. 2:5-6 Well, here goes...

"While He was still speaking, someone came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, 'Your daughter has died; do not trouble the teacher anymore.' But when Jesus heard this, he answered him, 'Do not be afraid any longer; only believe, and she will be made well.' When He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the girls father and mother.  Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, 'Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.' And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died.  He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, 'Child, arise!' And her spirit returned, and she got up immidiately; and He gave orders for something to be given her to eat." Luke 8:49-55

As I was doing my Bible study I came across the above account of Jesus bringing the girl back to life.  I started really thinking about it and I was in awe.  Imagine being brought back to life, or seeing someone be brought back to life.  Seeing someone gain sight, or the ability to walk, or the ability to speak.  That would truly be a miraculous thing.  I am filled with wonder right now as I think about it!

There are other accounts of death to life in the Bible.  These are two that Pastor Layton mentioned aside from the passage written above:
Luke 7:12-15 (Jesus brings the son of a widow back to life after He felt compassion for the mother.)
John 11:38-44 (Lazarus brought back to life.)

Pastor Layton referenced Ezekiel 37:1-10 and how Ezekiel prophesied to dry bones and they rattled together and sinew grew on them, but they had no breath in them, then he did as the Lord said and he prophesied and the breath came to the bones and they became alive.  We are but dry bones and Christ's death has brought the breath of life to those who believe. Pastor Phil also talked about how Jesus was able to bring people back to life from the dead, and He is also able to bring us, who are dead in sin, to life in Him.  It was amazing looking at these accounts of Christ bringing those three people back to life, and meditating on them.  These people were BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE! Jesus also died, and He was raised from the dead for us.  When we come to Christ we are brought to life from death.  We are alive in Him.  This is truly amazing.

Pastor Phil seems to come up with a "new favorite" passage or scripture or truth every Sunday he teaches.  Last week it was the words "But God" ("But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us" Eph 2:4, Gen. 8:1, 45:7, 50:20, Ps. 73:26, 49:15, Acts 2:22, 2 Cor. 1:9, 1 Cor. 3:6, 1:27, Rom. 5:6). This week his "new favorite" truth was "With Him" ("Even when we were dead in our transgrassions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." Eph. 2:5-6).

Activities Of The Day

Today was a very nice day.

Acivity #1 - Finished the skirt I was making for my mom. Now she has an all new Rock-N-Water outfit! Shirt and skirt made by me! YAY!

Activity # 2 - Made cookies to take to activity #4.  Some were plain chocolate chip cookies and some were chocolate chip cookies with Heath bits.  Oh so yummy!

Activity #3 - Made muffin batter for tomorrow morning.  (I'm hoping these mocha chip muffins go over better than the banana nut ones did.)

Activity #4 - Went to the contra dance! It was such a fun dance tonight too!  There were quite a few new people that really enjoyed it and they were fun to dance with.  It was a very nice night all round. :)
Smell #1 - One of these nice new young men smelled like Aeropostale cologne. Pleasant.
Smell #2 - One of the other young men smelled like a thrift store. Not as pleasant.

Activity #5 - Fourth meal at Taco Bell. YUM!  Gotta love a hot bean burrito after a long dance and a wet day.

Activity #6 - (yet to be accomplished) Climbing into bed and sleeping.

Like Joshua

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9

This is one of the verses I have always remembered from my choir days.  The catchy tune that the writer wrote for it and the wonderful meaning of the verse has made it stick with me ever since I heard it.  This verse has been going through my head the last few days.  Knowing that God is with me wherever I go is a wonderful knowledge.

I think the reason this verse was going through my head yeterday was that Nick was driving.  Nick drives very well, I mean, he's been driving since he was 12 or something so of course he drives well!  The thing is that he just recently started driving on real roads, where there are other people driving alongside.  He's been doing very well from what I have seen.  Yesterday was a wee bit different though, because it was pouring rain and the roads were practically flooding.  There was water that was hardly less than an inch thick in parking lots.  I've realized that I get nervous when I'm riding in cars and conditions are not very good.  I think it may have something to do with getting in an accident when I was in Jackson, because I don't remember ever really getting nervous before.  Whatever the reason, I  thought of that verse from Joshua, and I was able to calm down.  God is with me wherever I go.  I know He know's what my future holds.  I can rest in knowing His plan for me is perfect, and whatever happens it's His will.

And that's what I've had on my mind the last few days.  God is in control and there's nothing I can do to escape His will, and for that I am supremely grateful.

On Stalking and Some Such Nonsense

Stalking is a very interesting thing.  There are so many forms in which it manifests itself!

Form #1:  The obvious Facebook stalking - This week I decided to take a little break from Facebook.  I spend far too much time Facebook stalking our "friends" on there.  It's a funny term, "friend".  On Facebook, that's a very loose term.  It is applied to people you've only met once, is a friend of a friend, is the relative of a friend, and of course, the real friends that just so happen to alo have Facebook accounts.  Anywho... It's funny that people stalk on Facebook.  You can go back and see a pretty correct account of what a person has done since the day they got their Facebook account.  It's all right there, just waiting to be looked at.  I mean really, why not?  It's such fun to see what people are up to, and what's going on in their lives.  I mean really, it's a fantastic way to keep up with ones friends and "friends".

Form #2: The "Followers" - You can "follow" a person on Blogger... which in a way is far creepier than being "friends" on Facebook. I mean REALLY... It's saying outright, "I'm following you... it's like stalking, only you can't report me to the authorities."  It's not as bad as I made it sound though, because by becoming a "blogger" you are liturally signing up to let other people read what you write whether you know them or not. It's your choice.  You can follow a person you know, or a person you don't know, but it's still stalking.  It kinda reminds me of those Verizon commercials.  A ton of people followinf you around is a little creepy, even if they do make you have better cell service than any other plan.

Form #3:  The "Favoriter" - This is for all you people's that add a blog or website to your favorite list, but don't want that person to know that you're looking at their blog once or twice a week (or for some people more or less often).  It's not as bad as it sounds... all you have to do is click the little "open in new tab" button, and there you have it!

I suppose these are the only three forms that I can think of at the moment.

You might already know this, but I'm 90% joking in all this.  Of course, if you're form #2 then you might not be able to read my sarcasm because you might not actually know me.  On the other hand, if you're form #3 it could be the same thing.  In reality, I sorta like knowing that there are people interested enough in my life that they would stalk me in any way, so please... don't stop! *giggles quietly*

Seven What?!?!

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! That's what!

We are currently watching one of the most amazing musicals of all time.  One of the best scenes from a musical ever is the scene at the bard dance, which I am posting a link to.  It's worth every 6 minutes and 28 seconds of it!

You have just witnessed pure amazingness. <3

What It Means to Be Loved

As I've been going about my activities today I've been listening to Pandora.  The Contemporary Christian channel.  I've enjoyed hearing worship songs and songs by Christian artists, ones that I recognize and can sing along with, and new ones I've never heard before.  I came accross a new one that I really liked.  to be perfectly honest I was on the verge of tears while listening to it.  I decided to share it with you.

What It Means To Be Loved
By Mark Schultz

For five months and eight days my wife and I had waited
Gettin' ready for our baby girl
But when he called the doctor said I need to see you
and could you come in soon
then something died inside of me to sit with him and hear
the tests that said our baby may not live to be a year
then turnin' to my wife and he said "whata you wanna do?"
and she said...

I wanna give her the world
I wanna hold her hand
I wanna be her mom for as long as I can
and I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved

so we spent each day, watchin' every minute
and prayin' for our baby girl
and I will not forget the way I felt that moment
when she came into this world
but they took her from the room just as soon as she was born
and watchin' through a window I could see her holdin' on
when a voice inside me said...

I wanna give her the world
I wanna be her dad
I wanna hold her close for as long as I can
and I wanna live every moment until that day comes
I wanna show her what it means to be loved
I said everyday
we've got to bring her home
she's been out to prove the doctors wrong
oh and you should see her now
she's as pretty as her mom
and theres a boy at the front door waiting just to take her to her high school prom...

and he wants to give her the world
wants to hold her hand
and someday she may get a wedding band
but she's gunna live every moment until that day comes
and we're gunna show her what it means to be loved

Oh yeah (what it means to be loved)

show her what it means to be loved
what it means to be loved

The Love Of God

This is one of my favorite songs.  The lyrics are so beautiful.  God's love is so deep, so wide, so strong, and everlasting.  His love for us is so strong, in fact, that He sent His only son to die for us.  I am left in awe when I think about His awesome love.

The Love of God
By Frederick M. Lehman

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

A Sunset Sky

Psalms 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handiwork."

Psalms 50:6 "And the heavens shall declare His righteousness ; for God is judge Himself. Selah."

Psalms 97:6 "The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples have seen His glory."

It seems obvious from these verses that the heavens shall declare the glory of God.  Sunsets are one of the ways I believe they shout "GLORY!".  This is a picture from 2 years ago, but I just found it and thought it was lovely.  The sunset last night was beautiful too, but I didn't take a picture.  I thought I'd share this one with you.  Glory to God in the highest!

Multitasking...

I'm sitting here Skyping, making some jewelry, and listening to music.  Is that concidered multitasking? I would think so.  Whenever someone makes a comment about multitasking I think about a number of things... one of which is this comic strip I saw a long time ago.  I just went and found it online. Enjoy! :)

I'm not saying this is altogether truthful, because I know some men gthat are in fact fantastic multitaskers! I'm just saying this is what I think of every time.

Step By Step

I found this song and thought that the words were applicable for times when I'm uncertain.  I need to remember that God is completely in control, He knows the future and I can rest in this knowledge.

Step By Step
By Kate Ulmer

When the shadows thickly gather,
Clouding all thy onward way,
Think not what shall be tomorrow;
Seek God’s help just for today.

Refrain
Step by step He leads me onward,
Step by step the way reveals;
But what in the future lieth,
In His mercy He conceals.

Should the coming days bring burdens,
Or be fraught with grief or care,
Trust Him in the hour of trial,
He will make thee strong to bear.

Step by step He leads me onward,
Step by step the way reveals;
But what in the future lieth,
In His mercy He conceals.

Daily strength He ever giveth,
For each day rich grace bestows;
And each morrow, as it dawneth,
Still His lovingkindness shows.

Step by step He leads me onward,
Step by step the way reveals;
But what in the future lieth,
In His mercy He conceals.

Then why should we shrink or falter
When the onward path looks dim,
Knowing light will never fail us
While we walk by faith with Him?

Step by step He leads me onward,
Step by step the way reveals;
But what in the future lieth,
In His mercy He conceals.

All I Have Is Christ

We sung this song in church today and I really liked it.  I've sung it before, but the last verse meant a little more to me today.  The reason is that I really don't know what God has for me this coming year, and the next, and the next...  I want to do whatever God wants me to do, and I want to follow His will, not my own.

All I Have Is Christ
By Justin Kauflin

I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave.
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will.
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still.

But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross.
And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace.

Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me.
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose.
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You

Crabby Patty vs. Animal Style

Today the boys watched some SpongeBob.  Although it can be very stupid at times, SpongeBob can be pretty funny too!  As I was listening (not watching mind you, and you will see why later...) I heard all about a crabby patty.  As I was thinking about it, I noticed that the special thing about a crabby patty seems to be a special sauce?  Well, I was thinking about In-N-Out burgers, and how when you order one Animal Style they give it to you with a special sauce (although it's basically just thousand island dressing).  I've decided that the makers of SpongeBob have had the amazingness called "An Animal Style Hamburger" and based the crabby patty from one.  Just sayin'.

We have a lot of bananas.  Well, we did at least.  We buy bananas and we eat most of them, but then when they get brown we end up buying new ones.  The brown ones stay one the counter and eventually we add more brown ones to the pile.  Later we have a stack of bananas (literally a stack because they really do stack well) of over-ripe (not bad, just reeeeaaaally brown) bananas.  Well, that happened.  We had about 26 over-ripe bananas sitting on the counter.  I decided that instead of sitting around I'd get rid of them... not by throwing them away, but by using them! So I got out our American Test Kitchen Cookbook and I started cooking.  I made banana bread first.  I made 3 loaves plain banana bread, 2 loaves of orange banana bread, and 2 loaves of chocolate chip banana bread.  It smells fantastic!  After that I made banana nut muffins from the same cook book. Well, I made the batter, and I'm going to cook them tomorrow morning for breakfast.  I'm really looking forward to it!  We'll see how they turn out.

The rain is still coming down in buckets (not liturally of course, but still, there's a lot of rain) and it's very wet outside.

Aimee called a little while ago.  She's out skiing today with Heather and Caela.  I started thinking about it and I realized something... They're going to be good at skiing.snowboarding when they come home!  I'm not sure how I feel about this, cause then I'll be so patheticif we ever go together! Oh well, I'm glad they get to have a ton of fun at school. *grins* I miss them!

"I've Noticed..." Of The Day

1- I try to make sure that each bite of my cereal has enough milk.  I like there to be cereal and milk in my very last bite.

2- I miss people when I'm not with them... a lot.

3- I actually enjoyed getting soaking wet yesterday, cause I was working with friends and it was fun.  There's something gratifying about being really wet, rather than just a little wet.

4- Different people have different views on what is handsome and what isn't handsome.  But my opinion is right. *wink wink*

5- Jordon had a small bag of chocolate chips with him at lunch yesterday... why had I never thought of that?

6- I missed reading a lot more than I realized.

7- I'm really looking forward to Rock-N-Water!

8- There is so much water coming down outside!

It's a Green Kind of Day

Four-leaf Clover

I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before.
One leaf is sunshine, the second is rain,
Third is the roses that grow in the lane.
No need explaining, the one remaining
 Is somebody I adore.
 I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before.

"Coffee? Never touch the stuff." - Hoodwinked

On the topic of coffee.  Some people don't like coffee, others like it too much.  Some drink it for the caffeine, others drink it for the flavor.  I personally don't drink it for the caffeine, although it probably helps some during Rock-N-Water, I drink it more cause I like the flavor.  Well, partially flavor, after a conversation about coffee with a friend I came to the conclusion that maybe the reason I drink coffee is to get sugar to my mouth without it looking like sugar... I don't know if that makes any sense.  My friend drinks it black quite often, and I started realizing that I don't think I had ever actually had my coffee black. ("Sick... Gross...")  So, I tried it.  Black coffee.  It wasn't bad, it just wasn't very good.... it was just so.... BLACK!  I don't think I did a very good job making it though, so I'm going to try having it again sometime, when someone else has made it.  Anyways, after I had about half a cup of my coffee black and decided I didn't like it much, I added a little sugar, and it was much better.  I actually sort of liked it like that.  So I've come to the conclusion that coffee is not "Sick...Gross..." when it's black with a little sugar (at least my coffee needs sugar, and again, I'll try it again black when someone else has made it.)  I do like it best when there is a lot of stuff in it to make it sweet too though, like a Starbucks drink.

This afternoon I felt like having some coffee, but not black because I didn't want it like that.  Anyways... I'll share my recipe, because it was really quite good, even though it wasn't SUPER sweet... just sweet enough.

Pick a mug to use.
Fill mug half full of milk and microwave it for three 30 second increments until it is hot (warming it on the stove would work fine as well.)
Add half a package of got cocoa mix (about 2 tablespoons).
Add 1 tablespoon of your favorite Torani Syrup.
Mix all together.
Fill the remainder of the mug with coffee. Stir.
Put whipped cream on top. (whipped cream is not a must... unless you're me.)

And voila! You have a delightful cup of coffee!

Here are a couple pictures of mine.

Do You Have The Time?

Yes, I have the time, but I'm confused as to what time you want...

I have discovered something over the last few months; I tend to live in multiple time zones.  You might ask me how in the world I can even say that?  Well, I'll tell you. (This is the part where you wish you hadn't asked because I now proceed to take an entire blog post to answer you and make silly side notes that take multiple lines to write so by the time you finish you no longer remember where the parenthesis started and you're surprised when it comes to an end.)

As you (the reader) may know, I have two sisters.  As you may have gathered from previous blog posts, they are both away at a (smallish) college called Jackson Hole Bible College.  Well, Jackson Hole is located in Wyoming, and as many of you may know, I am located in California.  If you know your time zones, this means that we are in two different time zones!  (what is this girls thinking? She's crazy! Just because she has SISTERS in a different time zone does not mean that SHE is in a different time zone!) Okay, okay, you have a point, but it's my brain that is so confused.  You see, every morning when I get up I automatically think about what time it is in WY.  When I send them texts I automatically think about what they're doing.  When I see that it's 11:30, I think about how they're probably just about to pray before lunch.  When I see that it's 5 I know they should be about to eat dinner (unless of course it's Friday, which is a work day, which means that they are probably eating dinner a little early which means it might be at about 4:3 my time) and so on an so forth.  I know that at 10PM my time it's curfew their time.  I also notice when it's supposed to be break time for them during school.  All in all, it's a very odd sensation.   It's not as if I do anything based of their times, but I seem to be thinking about it an awful lot.

I also live in whichever time zone Georgia lives.  (No, I'm not talking about a person, I'm talking about that state that is three hours away, time zone wise.)  Okay, I don't live in this one quite so much, only at 8:11 CA time.  You want to know why I notice GA time? (You probably don't, but I'm going to tell you anyways, because I know that you are reading this by choice, unless some writing teacher or mother uses this to show an incorrect use of parenthesis, then you are being forced to read this.  Not that I think my blog would be used for that purpose, but that is beside the point.  In any case, I'm going to tell you why I live in GA time at 8:11.)  Mrs. J introduced us to a thing called happy minute a few years ago while we were at the happiest place on earth. DISNEYLAND!!!  Happy minute is when you look at the clock and it says 11:11 (of course the clock isn't actually SAYING that, but that's what numbers are displayed).  You are supposed to at least point out in a loud voice that it is happy minute... at least.  At most you jump around shouting "It's happy minute! It's happy minute! It's happy minute!" until the clock no longer says 11:11.  Some of you may know happy minute as just plain ol' "It's 11:11, make a wish." Well, Mrs. J's sister, brother-in-law, nieces and nephew live in GA and... (well, to make a long story a little shorter) a while ago we started texting each other if we noticed it was happy minute... or I could catch her at happy minute her time and I would notice it being 8:11 my time. So now happy minute is actually sort of at 8:11 my time as well as 11:11.

And THAT my friends, is how I live in multiple time zones.  Thank you, and good night.... errrr... good afternoon... errr... good 10:16 to you in my time zone. *winks*

Opinions of The Day

Opinion #1 - It is my humble opinion that mushrooms should NEVER be frozen to be used later.  They should also NEVER be dried and then rehydrated.  They should ALWAYS be eaten fresh or cooked or pickled (sometimes).  Just sayin'.

Opinion #2 - It is always much more fun looking at picture of people you know than people you don't know. (Unless it's of a wedding)

Opinion #3 - Sour Dough bread is best within 2 hours of coming out of the oven, but it is still good after two or three days.

Opinion #4 - It's going to be hard not having Heather, Danilo, and Brian here along with the girls. (Yes, this is an opionion, because some could say it isn't going to be hard, but rather boring, or less interesting, or nice)

Opinion #5 - Getting up at 1:30 is one of the weirdest feelings.

Opinion #6 - We should watch a movie tonight.

Opinion #7 - I have two of the best sisters in the entire world.

Hot Drink?

There's no whipped cream in this house.  What's the point in having hot cocoa then?

The Last Day of Spring Break

Well, two weeks of the girls spring break are over, and what a lovely two weeks they have been!

Yesterday God blessed us with some BEAUTIFUL weather here in Northern CA, and it was the best last day of spring break they could have hoped for!  We went outside and I took pictures of Heather, Danilo, Nate, and Tim playing corn hole.  Boy was that fun!  Tim and Heathers team won all the games, but Nate and Danilo never lost by much!  Here are a couple picturs of some great fun.

Danilo Making a nice shot.  Or at least looking very professional.

Tim looking oh so cool as he makes a throw... hi followthrough looks a  lot like when he makes a shot in basketball!

Heather looks pretty schnazzy making a shot... She was much improved by the time they finished.

And as we can see, she made at least one point. *chuckles*

Nate was pretty happy about his throw...

And if I remember correctly, this shot was a close miss...

After playing in the sun for a while (it was actually a pretty warm day, maybe 70something?) we decided to go down to the creek that runs through our property.  The water was probably one degree above freezing, and that's why it was still moving.  It was SO COLD! Tim, Nate, Sean, Heather, and I all went in.  Danilo chose not to risk his life.  Heather ended up staying in the water for a pretty long time, along with Sean.  Tim, Nate, and I all got out pretty quick.  All in all it was pretty darn fun!

After we got back we did random stuff, just kinda hung out.  Brian came back from the Shepherds conference and we made dinner.  Brussel Sprouts, Pigs in Blankets, Fresh Strawberries, and a green salad.  So yummy!  Brian and I cut up the strawberries... we did a good job.

Tim, Nick, Danilo, Heather, and I all stayed up playing games until 3 when other people got up to finish getting read for them to leave. (oh yes, and mom stayed up doing some stuff on her laptop so she could get the girls up.)  They ended up leaving at pretty much exactly 4 in the morning, and we all went to bed.  I got up at 1:30 this afternoon.  THAT was odd.

And that was the last day of the JHBC folks being on Spring Breaks a the "Rawrs" house. I'm going to miss them, but the semester is going to be over in about 8 weeks, and those weeks will just FLY by.

I Surrender All

As I come to a point in my life where I start to feel like I need to take things into my own hands, I realize more and more how much I just need to give everything to God.  He knows what is best for me, and I need not worry.

I Surrender All

All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live

I surrender all I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me Jesus take me now

I surrender all I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

All to Jesus I surrender
Lord I give myself to Thee
Fill me with Thy love and power
Let Thy blessing fall on me

I surrender all I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all
Oh I surrender all I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all

God is Leading

Sometimes I get caught up in worrying about what will happen.  I worry about way to many things.  Like right now, I am trying to figure out what God wants me to do about school, and he rest of my life.  That's a huge thing to worry about, so huge that I don't even know where to start worrying!  I just kinda jump around and worry about different parts of the whole.  I go from "Am I supposed to go to JHBC next semester?" to "How am I going to get the money?" to "Is anyone going to buy my jewelry so I can get the money?" to "Maybe I'll need to get another job, a real one, a summer job?" to "Maybe I'm not supposed to go to school at all?" all within about 60 seconds.  Lately there have been many things (and people) that keep reminding me that God is in control, and whatever He has for me in His will is what will happen to me.  I take comfort in knowing that if He wants me to go to school, He will provide the money, whether through jewelry or some other means.  It's such a comfort to know that my Heavenly Father cares so much about me that He will take care of all the little details.  God is good.

I came across this quote online and thought it fit into this post well, so here it is.

I will continue to trust God that He will provide as only He can.

Full To The Brim

Today was a blessedly full day!

We went to church, and listened to a great sermon!

Got in the car and drove for what seemed like hours all the way up to the Armstrong Redwood reserve/forest.  It was beautiful! Got to see some amazingly huge trees and walk around in the light drizzle of rain falling down.  It was loverly!

After a tasty lunch we got back in the car and drove to the beach.  It was foggy and windy and there was a light rain falling, but it was beautiful!  Found some sweet shells, and rocks, and stuff like that.  Heather had a little run in with a wave (no pun intended) and ended up soaking wet!  Poor little salt water mop! Well, after she got into some dry clothes we got in the car and stopped for some gas and a few drinks.  Coffee/hot cocoa with creamer is soooo yummy when one is cold!

We then drove over to San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge.  That was fun! (even though it was very foggy).  We then drove through SF and over to the Bay Bridge.  Oh what excitement.

In-N-Out after a long day of activities and riding in the car tastes sooo good!  Animal style fries and a chocolate shake.  Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about.

Finish the drive home and sit around with everyone just relaxing. Oh what a wonderful day!

It's been so nice having the college kids here! And it's only just starting the second week! Oh yeah, and Danilo came yesterday... how fun is that!?!?! Yay for JHBC peeps! *laughs*

Sounds of the Day

Today was very nice!

Sound #1:  Bean bags being juggled...and then falling on the ground.  I know how to juggle! Not well, but better than yesterday!

Sound #2:  Dogs panting.  Tiki and Tinkerbell went on a walk with me.  What a beautiful day!

Sound #3:  Heather's laugh.  It's been so nice having her here over spring break!

Sound #4:  Brian's laugh.  Such a funny guy! So many grand adventures while in California!

Sound #5:  Brooke's laugh.  It was lovely having her over for a visit. I love that girl!

Sound #6:  Cheers during Tim's basketball game.  They lost again, but it was a good game!

Sound #7:  "Singing in the Rain".  I love this movie! Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donold O'Conner are all such good dancers and singers!  I love musicals.

500 Earrings

Hello....

I started a new blog.

This isn't just any blog, this is special.

This blog is to track my progress to making enough money to attend Jackson Hole Bible College next Fall and Spring.

I will list items for sale and show jewelry that I sell.

The reason I'm calling my blog "500 Earrings" is because I figured out that I need to sell approximately 500 pairs of earrings to meet my quota.  This of course depends on how much they sell for and other items that are not classified as earrings.

So go ahead and check it out! Share it with friends! Buy my earrings! *grins*

My Sisters Green Shoes

Caela has a sweet pair of green converse.  So I had a photo session with them while we were at Folsom Lake.  They are very photogenic.

Bunnies? Hares? No, no, no...... Rabbits!

Happy March First everyone!

The girls are back and they brought Brian and Heather with them! It's been a super great visit so far! Sunday we went to church and had sweet fellowship with the Jackowitz family over lunch afterwards.  Monday we hung around the house for the morning and then went and tried to go to Empire Mine in Grass Valley.  Sadly they were closed, so we went on an adventure and tried to find someplace to go other than our house.  We ended up going to Folsom Lake.  It was beautiful! Thankfully Tim had remembered the camera and we took turns using it.  Here are some pictures of our grand adventure.

There were some seagulls.  Silly birds obviously can't tell the difference between the ocean and Folsom Lake.

This is where Sean decided he wanted to try to feed the birds a rock.  They didn't fall for it.

We had fun skipping rocks, and the boys were also seeing who could throw one the farthest.

This is Brian.  He throws rocks.

This is Heather, she is pretty.  She is going to master the art of rock skipping while in California.

Mom and Aimee watching them throw rocks.

Yes, yesterday was a good day.
