We sang this song on Sunday, and I just had to share it with ya'll. I also took some pictures just to show some of the things God created that sing His mighty power to me.
I Sing the Mighty Power of God
By Isaac Watts
I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
[or I sing th’almighty power of God…]
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.
I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.
There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

(A beautiful blossom)
(Water flowing over the rocks)
(Amazing color in the Redbud trees)
(These tiny blue flowers that have such minute details)
(These two pictures do not do the night sky nearly enough justice.)
Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Thanks for posting Isaac Watts's powerful hymn, and for the great pictures. (Needed a longer camera exposure to catch the night sky, though.)
ReplyDeleteYour blog caught my eye because I posted an article on this hymn today. Interesting that Dr. Watts intended it for children. (Has a little more substance than "Heavenly Sunshine"!) God bless.
